Questpro is partnered with a leading digital Coverholder and Program Administrator in the Specialty Disability and Life insurance space is looking for an experienced and senior Individual Disability Underwriter with prior Life Insurance Underwriting experience or working knowledge.
This Underwriter will be a high-profile member of the company, interfacing with clients, so needs to have the ability to work independently and a strong drive for continuous improvement as you'll work closely with development to help mature their Automated Underwriting engine.
Responsibilities:
- Providing preliminary coverage consideration for highly impaired disability cases (5- 10 minute review of key medical issues and impairments and sending preliminary offers (with rating / exclusions / benefit amount & period) subject to full underwriting
- Responding to preliminary inquiries for consideration coming from field partners and agents in a timely manner
- Fully underwriting (without supervision/training or manuals) Individual Disability Underwriting cases (up to $25,000 of benefits per month) reading & considering APS, script Checks, MIB and application questions
- “Training” an underwriting engine to perform routine underwriting tasks automatically: this means you'll play a key role to embed most common underwriting decisions in an automated expert decision system for both Disability and life.
Requirements:
- Must have been recently (not more than 3 years ago) a production individual Disability medical underwriter at one of the major Disability insurance carriers, fully underwriting difficult disability cases using medical records, script checks, MIB, labs.
