Vice President of Operations (Life Underwriting and New Business)
We are working with a top-rated Life Insurance Carrier who is looking to hire a Vice President of Operations role open with a focus on Underwriting and New Business Operations. This is a strategic level leadership role that will report to the company COO. This role will have oversight of all of NB and UW (approximately 150 people) and will have Director/AVP level reports. To qualify you will need to have a deep understanding of the Life and Retirement Industry with specific knowledge in Life Underwriting, Life New Business and Life Insurance Operations in general. Being a strong project manager with excellent stakeholder management skills is also a must to be successful in this role. This is a Strategic Operations Leadership role first, Life UW and NB second.
In order to be considered you will need a background that includes:
- 10+ years strong strategic level Operations experience (reports to COO)
- Experience in Traditional Life Insurance industry (Individual Life)
- Experience having Underwriting and New Business oversight
- Strong driver of special projects and strategic initiatives
- Big picture strategic thinker who can bring ideas to the table
- Able to collaborate well with senior leaders
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Able to work in changing and technology centric environment
- Comfortable with automation, cost reduction and continuous improvement
- Experience managing a budget
- Strong with staff development, career pathing and training
- Strong with workforce management
- Able to work closely with the Chief Life UW
- Strong understanding of Sales/Distribution (especially brokerage/BGA)
- Executive level polish, communication and collaboration skills
