This role is pivotal in developing underwriting strategies, managing risk, and supporting growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of life insurance underwriting and a proven track record in leadership and project management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

• Develop and implement underwriting strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the underwriting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Work with senior leadership to refine underwriting policies and procedures.
• Oversee the underwriting process for life insurance applications, ensuring thorough risk assessment and adherence to company guidelines.
• Review and approve complex or high-value cases, making critical decisions on risk evaluation and policy issuance.
• Monitor underwriting performance metrics and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Analyze underwriting data and trends to inform strategic decisions and improve underwriting processes.
• Prepare and present reports on underwriting performance, risk exposure, and other key metrics to senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPCU, FLMI) preferred.
• Minimum of [10] years of experience in life insurance underwriting
• Strong knowledge of life insurance products, underwriting principles, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven leadership skills

This role can be fully remote, though they would prefer someone in or near their Midwest headquarters working hybrid.
